Practice Auditor - Dental Assistant

This role located at Dentalcorp’s Toronto Support Centre and would involve travel . Reporting to the Senior Director Compliance the successful candidate will play an important role as a dental practice auditor, you will be responsible for conducting thorough in person audits of dental practices across Canada to assess compliance with regulatory standards, operational efficiency, accuracy of the patient chart, adherence to billing and claims submission protocols, and overall quality of patient care. As a person who loves travelling and spending time building relationships in dental offices, your audits will provide valuable insights and recommendations to help practices maintain ambitious standards of care, improve operational processes, and ensure conformity with legal and ethical guidelines.
Role Overview
- Conduct Audits: Perform comprehensive audits of dental practices, including clinical notes and records, billing practices, compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g. sedation and radiation standards of practice, infection control protocols, and overall clinical operations).
- Evaluate Compliance with Regulatory Authorities’ Standards, Bylaws, and Guidelines: Assess the practice's adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards to identify areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
- Review Documentation: Examine patient records, treatment plans, billing statements, and insurance claims to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established guidelines. Prepare detailed audit reports outlining findings, recommendations for corrective actions, and suggestions for enhancing operational efficiency and quality of care.
- Assess Operational Efficiency: Analyze practice workflows, appointment scheduling systems, inventory management, and staff productivity to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Advise Clinicians, Practice Personnel and Cross-functional Departments: Respond to and Anticipate inquiries from practices regarding a broad array of regulations governing the practice of dentistry and dental hygiene across Canada.
- Educate and Train: Offer guidance and training to dental practice teams, regional managers and other support team groups on regulatory requirements, best practices in clinical care, documentation standards, and compliance protocols.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in a Healthcare setting as a Dental Assistant or in Public Health.
- Previous experience with dental/medical sedation.
- Strong knowledge of radiation standards such as Safety Codes 30.
- Proven experience in auditing, preferably within a healthcare or dental setting.
- Intimate knowledge of the healthcare regulatory framework across Canada.
- Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to articulate findings and recommendations.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Work Environment:
- There will be frequent travel required to dental practices for on-site audits, with regular visits to the Support Centre in Toronto.
- May involve irregular hours during audit periods or deadlines.
